This DVD contains a music video for the titled song that was in part inspired by the recent unprovoked beating death of an innocent homeless man in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for no other reason than for sport. It took his death for us to be reminded that those who find themselves homeless are people—people with a face and name…a face and name that could’ve been yours or mine.

Doug Gordon, on the right in the above photo, is one of the many great and talented supporters of the Miami Rescue Mission/Broward Outreach Centers. His music video concerning the plight of the homeless is now available. For More Information contact Ronald Brummitt, Miami Rescue Mission Executive Director, at 305.571.2204 or Amy Smith, A.J. Management - 305.790.5611. This has been a labor of love and has involved many volunteers.

Video Synopsis

The message of this song and video is based on the scripture, “…For what you have done to the least of these, you have done for Me,” Matt 25:40. The video opens with a homeless man (main character) shaving next to a dumpster, but he is not made known. It is followed by another homeless man sketching a drawing on the sidewalk for money, with partial clips throughout the video of the drawing, but not yet revealing it.
There are two other characters; a man who hasn't eaten in two days and a young girl who is on drugs needing to get back home. In both of these scenes and during verses 1 and 2 the main character reaches out and helps these two individuals, casually portraying the role of a common citizen. However, during the 1st and 2nd choruses, “It Could've been me…,” the main character then switches roles and becomes homeless; receiving help from the two other characters who are now dressed professionally.

The bridge depicts two characters holding hands and walking by the homeless man with the drawing. One character wants to hurry by and ignore him, while the other pauses and is torn, and feels compelled to stop.

Throughout the video and during all three of the choruses there are shots of individuals of different ages, races and genders, including several of the current residents of the Miami Rescue Mission singing the song.

The video ends with the main character as a homeless man, looking up from the ground (where he is sitting and shaving with a broken mirror, same as opening scene). It is at this point that his face is revealed and he will sing the tag line, “It Could've Been Me …” The camera pans to an over the shoulder close-up of the drawing and the scripture, “For what you have done to the least of these, you have done for Me.” Matt. 25:40.
